Course Description
This is a clinical course for the fifth year medical students at JUST University, 4.5 credit hours,4 weeks duration, teaching is a mixture of both didactic-lectures and seminars- and bed site at JUST health center and MOH Primary care centers. Family medicine is the medical specialty for providing primary health care to the community. It is a specialty of continuing, comprehensive and holistic care that integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral aspects of medical care. The scope of family medicine encompasses all ages, genders, disease entity and organ systems. Family physicians provide medical care in the context of a personal doctor-patient relationship, but with an appreciation for the individuals, families and community influences. This 4 -week course clerkship will provide an outstanding learning experience for 5th year medical students who will spend training period at a university health center and other affiliated primary health care centers in Irbid area. Students during this rotation are exposed to different health problems commonly seen at primary healthcare settings. They will be taught how to take the proper, timely managed medical history, examination, and communication skills. They will actively participate in management plan as well. Didactic teaching is composed of lectures and seminars, which are selected based on the common diseases with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion.
