The course provides the students with a comprehensive survey of phonetic principles and applications. This survey covers the various branches of phonetic science, the particular problems associated with using IPA, an overview of the anatomy and physiology of speech mechanism, transcription of all the individual speech sounds, and transcription of stress, intonation, and timing of words in sentences.
