This course will introduce the students to fetal, maternal, and pediatric basic sciences. Gynecologic, obstetric, and pediatric emergencies will be discussed thoroughly. Students will have the opportunity to participate in normal and abnormal obstetrical problems in the clinical and/or preclinical environment as possible.
Assessment of the gynecologic patient, deliveries (normal, abnormal, and complicated), routine care of the neonate, care of distressed infants, neonatal emergencies, and patient interviewing are also addressed in this course. Although PALS will be discussed in this course, but it is student?s responsibility to obtain a PALS certificate from the AHA (optional but highly recommended).
