Course Description
This is an advanced course in medical microbiology for the master students majoring in any of the Clinical Laboratory Sciences programs in the Department for both the thesis and non-thesis tracks. It covers all aspects of the interrelationship between infectious agents and their hosts. Among the major topics covered are microbial virulence mechanisms and identification of infectious agents important in human disease and host-defense mechanisms to infections. Clinical applications and diagnostic methods are emphasized. Course will involve didactic lectures, discussions of research articles, and student presentations.
