Course Description
This course explores the essential principles and practices related to antimicrobial agents, the mechanisms of action and antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs in clinical and healthcare settings. The course covers the pharmacology of antimicrobials, the molecular and genetic basis of resistance, and the global challenge of AMR. Evidence based strategies to prevent the emergence and spread of AMR through appropriate antimicrobial use, surveillance, antibiogram and stewardship will also be covered.
