Course Description
This course provides students with a foundation for studying the environmental challenges facing humans. The course aims to improve students? environmental literacy by underlining the dynamics between the built and natural environments. Students examine critical concepts such as natural resources, ecosystems, population growth, climate change, mitigation and adaptation, and sustainability. The course explores critical environmental issues at local, regional, and global scales. Course Objectives: ? Introduce student to environmental principles and their role in understanding city growth and development. ? Familiarize students with contemporary discourse and theories related to environmental challenges facing cities. ? Explore diverse sectoral responses to environmental challenges. ? Improve students? foundational environmental science literacy. ? Promote environmental ethics and advocacy among students.
