Course Description
Hydroinformatics and GIS: Applications in Water and Environment Resources Management Hydroinformatics concentrates on the utilization of data and software in addressing the increasingly serious problems of the equitable and efficient use of water the different sectors. Growing out of the earlier discipline of computational hydraulics, the numerical simulation of water flows and related processes remains a backbone of hydroinformatics, which encourages a focus not only on the technology but on its application in a social and economic context. Learn how to utilize the software ArcGIS, SWAT, and WEAP to simulate water and environmental systems in a wide variety of hydraulic, hydrologic, and environmental engineering situations. Apply five full comprehensive case studies using official Jordanian data and advanced hydroinformatics tools on the topics of watershed delineation and analysis, surface water resources management, soil and water assessment, groundwater vulnerability mapping and sustainable landfill site selection and multi-criterion analysis.
