This course provides a comprehensive overview of the avionics systems and sensor technologies essential for the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Students will gain a fundamental understanding of the principles and applications of various avionics components, including flight control systems, navigation and guidance systems, communication systems, and power systems. The course will delve into the diverse array of sensors used in UAVs, such as GPS, inertial measurement units (IMUs), cameras, LiDAR, radar, and other specialized sensors. Students will learn about sensor data acquisition, processing, and integration, as well as their role in enabling critical UAV functionalities like autonomous flight, obstacle avoidance, and target detection. Practical applications of UAV avionics and sensors in different domains, including aerial imagery, precision agriculture, surveillance, and search and rescue, will be explored.
