This course introduces the principles, philosophy, and tools of Lean Production Systems for improving operational performance through waste elimination, continuous improvement, and customer value creation. Students learn to analyze processes, identify value-added and non-value-added activities, design pull-based production systems, improve quality at the source, and implement lean tools to enhance productivity, quality, flexibility, and operational efficiency in manufacturing and service environments. The course emphasizes practical applications of Value Stream Mapping, Just-in-Time production, Kanban systems, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, Quick Changeover, and Lean Six Sigma.
