Course Description
The course covers the general study of microbiology and its pharmaceutical/medical importance. The course studies the characteristics and classification of various microorganisms, Pathogenesis of microorganisms and their spread. In addition, the course includes understanding the relationship between the in-clinic used antibiotics, and their mode of actions. The course will also illustrate the mechanism of bacterial resistance to antimicrobial agents as well as role of biofilm in resistance and impact on health. The students will study how to evaluate different sterilizing processes and acquire knowledge about disinfectants, antiseptics and preservatives and their use to control spread of microorganisms.
