Course Name PHAR693 - Clinical Training: Drug Information (For Pharm.D Students)
Course Description
Four training weeks; two weeks in drug information office in KAUH and two weeks in pharmacy one drug information center. This includes various activities such as: ? Create one Newsletter article in English for healthcare professional. ? Create one Arabic Brochure about medication or awareness of disease for community. ? Development of a drug or class-specific monograph for presentation. ? Thoroughly evaluating a clinical research article (?journal article?) from the drug literature (i.e., article from ?Pharmacotherapy,? a peer-reviewed clinically oriented journal) and stating an opinion on the validity of the study design, statistical analyses and results (Oral presentation). ? Understanding and demonstrating use of the available computerized resources: MEDLINE (PubMed / OVID / Gateway), Micromedex, Iowa Drug Information Service, etc. ? Selecting the most appropriate drug information literature sources for any given questions and answer them properly. ? Summarizing updated guidelines.
