This course will take a practical approach to pharmacoeconomics. Students will learn about relevant methods of evaluating diagnostic and therapeutic strategies to optimize patient care and inform policy decisions, including those in which limited resources are of important consideration. Topics will focus on applications of clinical pharmacoeconomics, with an emphasis on problems of pricing production and distribution of pharmaceuticals. The topics discussed in this course will round out the student?s understanding of the economics of healthcare system. The course will also engage students in active discussions about domestic or international issues relevant to pricing policies, reimbursement mechanisms, and economic incentives.
