Course Description
The purpose of this graduate course is to link and integrate human behaviour, principles of genetics, growth and developments, and their outcomes into the counselling process to prepare graduate nurses who are able to examine the challenges of the nurse counsellor. The course contents are organized toward utilizing and implementing the counselling skills and strategies with women through the life span. Counselling of women will focus on issues facing women of all ages including pre-marriage counselling, counselling for family planning, parenting, violent relationships and families with congenital/hereditary problems and other relevant counselling topics. Issues of focus will include ethical standards, legal requirements, client rights, practice issues with special populations.
