Course Name NUR752 - Acute Care Pediatric Nursing Theory (I)
Course Description
This course provides graduate students with national, regional and international prospective of practice roles in the field of pediatric nursing. Students examine and apply theories pertinent to promoting wellness, physiologic and psychological developmental needs, epidemiological principles, disease risk appraisal and reduction that form the basis for nursing assessment and intervention for providing care to infants, children, and adolescents and their families across the spectrum of health care settings, inpatient, outpatient, home, and community. The course provides students with an understanding of Jordan?s healthcare system, including major components of both service delivery and financing of care and explore current legal and ethical issues in health care practices such as legal principles, nursing liability, ethical theories, and its application to pediatric care. Students are introduced to concepts of global health, within the local context; caring for underserved populations and builds on a diverse base of prerequisite knowledge in interdisciplinary fields relevant to health, social justice, sustainable development goals, and universal health coverage. Current research from nursing and closely allied disciplines is analyzed and incorporated to develop evidence-based care.
