This course focuses on the physiological and psychological context during childbirth including labour process, birth process and immediate postpartum process. Emphasis will be placed on maintaining mother's and her fetus health during childbirth. This course provides the opportunity to describe, explore and synthesize the theoretical knowledge. It also will help students to reflect on the midwife's role in caring for women who are at low and high risks during childbirth. This course uses the evidence based knowledge and current research findings to broaden students' understanding of the identifications, preventions and appropriate midwifery managements for mothers who are at low and high risks.
