This course focuses on the theory and concepts of midwifery management in the care of the women in the postnatal period, newborns and their families. The course moves from normal physiological changes to pathological changes; starting with concepts of normal physiological and psychological adaptation, health promotion and maintenance, and the prevention of illnesses and accidents and then to selected health problems.
Focus will also be on the development and the application of knowledge and skills necessary for the midwife in the provision of health care to women during postnatal period, newborns and their families. By utilizing the midwifery process, latest evidence based knowledge and updated clinical guidelines such as those in NICE and WHO.
