Course Description
This Course addresses some concepts of community-based midwifery care. It also provides theory essential to the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the clients across the lifespan in the community-individuals, families, groups, and the community itself. Emphasis is on the study and application of midwifery role components inherent in community health for health promotion, and disease prevention based on the concepts of primary health care and home health care for women and their families. Students are directed toward implementation of the midwifery model through applying primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of disease for women and their families in community setting. In particular, providing care to women during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum periods and their (fetuses and newborn). It also guides the student midwife to utilize the tools so to understand some important facts in their local communities that may have an effect on health. There will be special focus on women's roles and the health and mortality pathways that might exist in the community.
