This is a course with theoretical and practical components. It extends over 2 semesters where students will receive the theory part in the form of a weekly lecture over the 2 semesters.
Students will perform clinical work in the conservative dentistry clinics over the 2 semesters. The course aims to introduce the fourth year students to general dental practitioners' work environment. It is designed to reiterate the principles of code of professional conduct, cross infection control, patient-centered clinical work and enhance student's clinical skills in conservative dentistry. The theory part will be dedicated to consolidate basic principles in; diagnosis, treatment planning, disease processes and control, restorative and non-restorative treatment modalities, clinical decision making, endodontics, applied dental material science and restoration of root-treated teeth. All procedures should be done totally under rubber dam isolation.
