This course is the second theoretical and first clinical course of the periodontology field for dental students.
Theory lectures will be delivered at the seminar room or by e-learning. Different periodontal diseases, etiologic factors, risk factors, epidemiology and clinical aspects of disease diagnosis and treatment will be introduced.
In the clinics, the students will receive clinical training on the basic skills of periodontology: history taking, examination/risk factors identification, diagnosis and treatment planning. In addition, they will be trained to perform basic periodontal treatments, interventions and management strategies, such as: patient education, motivation, oral hygiene instructions, scaling and polishing.
