This course is provided by the Department Applied Dental Sciences for undergraduate 2nd year students in the Bachelor Degree in Dental Technology and Allied Dental Sciences during the first semester. It represents the practical component of the ADS 201 Course and focuses in developing students? skills in carving different teeth out of wax blocks. Students start each lab by drawing the assigned tooth form all aspects and identifying the anatomical landmarks that should be duplicated at the carving stage using large study models. This practice is assumed to help students recalling the details of tooth morphology they learn from lectures and improving their manual skills. This is significant to have been developed before upgrading to 3rd year as many course require a good knowledge on dental anatomy and good carving skills. The practical sessions also include practicing on dental numbering systems and skills of tooth identification. By the completion of the practical sessions, each student has to hand in for assessment the laboratory book containing the completed duties that they have been asked to execute.
