This course is designed to aid dental hygiene students in defining and eventually implementing their roles as dental health educators in the community. Instruction will include school health programs, creating an atmosphere for learning, developing behavioral objectives and lesson plans, and using educational aids. In addition, subjects such as community dental programs in the world, dental legislation, community fluoridation, fluorosis, promotion of dental health, discussing public concerns, and dissemination of research findings will be explored. This course will aid the student in the design of their own dental health education unit(s) to be presented to assigned target groups
