The course focuses on the lexical system of language. It introduces students to morphological techniques in word formation and phraseology. It also explains the major differences between the existing types of dictionaries. Furthermore, it helps students to analyze and explain the strategies for defining the meaning(s) of words; the difference between sense and reference; the changes in the meaning of words and semantic neologisms; and sense relations and lexical cohesion in different types of text.
