Course Description
This course introduces non-veterinary students to the fundamentals of responsible pet ownership and companion animal care. It covers the basic biology, behavior, housing, and welfare needs of common companion animals (dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, and other small pets), along with nutrition, preventive health care, recognizing signs of illness, zoonotic disease awareness, basic first aid, and the ethical, legal, and social responsibilities of pet ownership. Through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, students develop practical knowledge to make informed and responsible decisions about caring for companion animals.
