This course introduces students to the study of language in context. To begin with, it introduces students to speaker-oriented meaning. Besides, it seeks to familiarize students with the analysis of stretches of language when used by speakers for the purpose of communication in authentic contexts. Moreover, the course seeks to introduce students to ways through which language changes. Last, how language interacts with the regional and social contexts is explored.
