Course Description
This course is designed to introduce students to the basic and advance molecular biology technologies and their application in diagnosis of genetic diseases, cancer and infectious diseases. The basic chemistry of the Sanger dideoxy sequencing, Allele -specific PCR and Real-time melting curve PCR and application in clinical setting will be extensively studied. The massively parallel next generation sequencing platforms and their clinical application in gene discovery, Patients management and identifying actionable genomic alterations will be discussed. The course will also examine the NGS library preparation for different application including WGS, WES and RNA-seq.
