Abstract:
Objective: To determinetheextentofpharmacoeconomicseducationinEasternMediterraneanRegionschoolsofpharmacy.
Methods: A surveycontainingquestionsaboutpharmacoeconomiceducationwassentto164schoolsofpharmacyin
22 EasternMediterraneancountriesviae-mail.
Results: Of the41(31%)respondingschools,28(68%)schoolsofpharmacyfrom12countriesprovidedsomelevelof
pharmacoeconomics educationduringthe2012academicyear.Thenumberofclassroomhoursinrequiredcoursescovering
pharmacoeconomics-related topicsrangedfrom2to60h[mean(SD) ? 27 h(16.8h)].
Conclusion: The majorityofrespondingEasternMediterraneanRegionschoolsofpharmacyofferpharmacoeconomicsintheir
curriculum; however,thenumberofhoursandtopicsdedicatedtopharmacoeconomicsvariedwidelyamongtheschools.
